Communications Specialist

Part-Time, Hourly- up to 30 hours/week

This position is supervised by the Director of Community Engagement and works collaboratively with the Development Team, designated Administrative team and program staff. This position will be required to work up to 30 hours per week at $15/hour and must be available to work during normal business hours (weekdays, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.).

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least one year of social media experience preferred

  • Nonprofit experience preferred  

  • Must pass a criminal background check and participate in annual background checks as required by CCFI

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Social Media Management

    • Create, edit, publish and share engaging content daily across multiple social media platforms

    • Communicate with followers, respond to inquiries in a timely manner and monitor reviews/comments

    • Design social media graphics using Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva

    • Stay up to date with current technologies and trends in social media, design tools and applications

    • Maintain annual calendar with special dates, holidays, awareness months, etc.

  • Marketing & Communications

    • Assist with accuracy and maintenance of agency website

    • Assist with design and production of agency materials including, but not limited to, annual reports, brochures, flyers, special event materials and other promotional items

    • Serve as the primary writer for agency’s monthly newsletter

    • Promote CCFI through the proactive and strategic use of media including press releases, donor communications and other outreach materials

  • Community Outreach

    • Represent CCFI in the community by attending outreach, engagement and volunteer recruitment events as needed (occasional nights/weekends required)

    • Assist with fundraising events as needed

    • Coordinate and manage annual Holiday Wishes gifting program

Boys & Girls Club of Norman Site Director

Part-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt 

This is a part time position that provides supervision of program services to Club participants of Boys & Girls Club of Norman.  This position involves the management, coordination, planning, preparation and facilitation of high quality programming for Club members as assigned. Will work closely with the Program Director on all tasks. This position will also be responsible for management scheduling, oversight, and support of Youth Development Professionals (YDP). This position will be required to work up to 30 hours per week at $18/hour and must be available to work during the academic year, Monday through Friday during Club operating hours. This is a temporary employment position from April 2025 – July 2025 with opportunity to apply for our after school program the following year.  Staff must be able to work during some Norman Public School holidays and breaks.    

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum requirements include a high school diploma.  Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., education, social work, psychology, sociology, human relations, etc.) preferred.

  • Minimum requirements of 1 year of supervisory experience and 1 year of working with children.

  • Demonstrate managerial experience and abilities, as well as knowledge of purchasing supplies.

  • Must pass a criminal background check and participate in annual background checks as required by CCFI.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with others orally and in writing.

  • Ability to maintain positive relationships with children and youth.

  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff and volunteers.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead large and small groups of children and youth in structured, intentional and fun activities

  • Ability to operate a personal computer using e-mail, word processing and other applications related to assigned duties.

  • Ability to provide supervision and consultation to staff and volunteers.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Ability to collaborate and work as part of a team.

  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to organizational change.

  • Thorough knowledge of all job related policies and procedures.

  • Knowledge and experience with child development, generational poverty, and the impact of trauma on child development.

  • Ability to be trained in CPR and First Aid, de-escalation and conflict management, and other training required for Boys and Girls Club of Norman staff.

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and insurance coverage as required by law

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, supervision, guidance & support to YDP staff and volunteers.

  • Track, manage, and coordinate staffing on a daily basis to ensure child/staff ratios are met.

  • Ensure staff are following BGCN protocols and provide support and discipline when needed.

  • Responsible for weekly and daily schedules coordinated with an understanding of high quality after school programing.

  • Provide high-level behavior support and coaching for YDP staff with understanding of trauma-informed practices and developmentally appropriate behavior management strategies in collaboration with Director of Social Services. 

  • Collaborate and support Academic, Healthy Lifestyle, and Arts Coordinators in their implementation of programming in their area of focus.

  • Collaborate with BGCN Leadership to streamline processes and provide consistent high quality programming for Club members.

  • Have the ability to serve as a group leader of Club members when needed.

  • Have working knowledge of Front Desk operations including checking Club members in and out, checking parent/guardian identification, etc.

  • Use behavior management skills, structure, and positive leadership to act as a caring adult role model for youth.

  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with school personnel, faculty, and staff (if managing a school based site).

  • Effectively communicate and engage with parents/guardians of Club members in services.

  • Provide support to Club members and members’ families using strengths based approach.

  • Attend all required program staffing and other meetings, workshops and trainings.

  • Participate in quality improvement activities to continuously improve programs, team functioning and Club operations.

  • Complete Behavior, Ouch, & Incident Reports, as needed.

  • Maintain accurate, complete, and current records on services provided and Club participants. Enter participant information into Trax database, create and analyze database reports and integrate learning into program decisions.

  • Participate in processing and clean up after services. Ensure program spaces are clean before leaving for the day.

  • Follow all CCFI policies, procedures and safety guidelines.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Youth Development Professional (Summer)

Status: Hourly, Non-exempt, Temporary  

The Center for Children and Families, Inc. (CCFI), based in Norman, Oklahoma, seeks enthusiastic youth development professionals to fill multiple part time positions providing services to members of the Boys & Girls Club of Norman.  This position involves researching, coordinating, planning, preparing and facilitating activities for Club members during BGCN’s after school program. This position will be supervised by the Program Coordinator, Program Director, and Executive Director. 

Applicants must be available to work Monday through Friday for 5 weeks, from June 2025 to July 2025. Shifts will be scheduled between the hours of 7:30 a.m. – 5:45 p.m. Boys & Girls Club of Norman is a program of CCFI, which offers a wide range of strength-based services to vulnerable children and families and is one of Cleveland County’s oldest and most successful independent, private non-profit agencies with diverse government and private support, highly qualified staff, and a committed Board of Directors. CCFI offers a team-oriented, family-friendly, and flexible work environment, and an hourly rate that will be commensurate with experience.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of related experience 

  • Additional education, youth development and leadership experience strongly preferred

  • Education and experience working with children living in generational poverty, children with challenging home or community environments, and/or children who have experienced trauma strongly preferred

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Ability to initiate and maintain positive relationships with children, youth and guardians

  • Ability to communicate effectively with others orally and in writing

Work Study

Federal Work-Study (FWS) is a need-based program that allows eligible students to earn money by working part-time while in school. Students are offered FWS based on their unmet need as determined by their annual FAFSA. To learn more about FWS qualifications, click HERE.

Youth Development Professional

This is part time position provides youth development services to Club participants at the Boys & Girls Club of Norman.  Responsible for providing mentorship to youth ages 6-18. Depending on hours available and youth development experience, may be assigned to lead a designated group, float between multiple classrooms, or provide other support services.

Work Schedule: Position available from August 5, 2024 to May 2, 2025. Varies Monday-Friday 8 am - 5:30 pm. Flexible around the student's class schedule

Salary Range: Targeted salary $12.00/hr based on experience

Administrative & Program Support

This part time role will assist various departments throughout our agency and will provide support with data entry, outreach events, front desk coverage and more.

Work Schedule: Position available from August 5, 2024 to May 2, 2025. Varies Monday-Friday 8 am - 5:30 pm. Flexible around the student's class schedule

Salary Range: Targeted salary $12.00/hr based on experience


Student Learning Opportunities

We offer a variety of different student learning opportunities for undergraduates and graduate-level students seeking training to gain professional experience or fulfill a degree requirement. Please note we do NOT offer short term, 16-week professional placement opportunities. Fingerprints and background checks are required at the cost of the student.

We are accepting application for summer/fall 2025 through spring 2026. Best fit applications have some experience working with children/and or families and candidates seeking clinical experience are able to participate in at minimum 2 semesters of learning.
